That’s what the Donegal Diaspora website says and that is why Donegal County Council initiated the Donegal Diaspora project a number of years ago.
Chief Executive with Donegal County Council Seamus Neely explains that “the community of Donegal is scattered across the globe, some people having left their homeland in recent years whilst others may be second or third generation who still feel a close bond with the birthplace of their parents or grandparents. The Donegal Diaspora project was set up to reach out and engage with Donegal’s global community, it’s Pobal Domhanda’ and most importantly to provide a link to ‘home’.”
DonegalDiaspora.ie is a wonderfully rich resource with information on all things connected to Donegal. It has stories about Donegal connections across the world from the former speaker in the US congress, to Donegal’s international sport and music stars, to interesting stories about our rich and ancient heritage, this website is great way to stay connected to Donegal.
